Our Approach

Incorporating what works

home  // about // approach

The Frontiersmen differ significantly from a variety of groups that we would call "sister organizations". We encourage and work closely with "prepper" networks, survivalist groups, and a variety of militia in our area, but our approach is somewhat unique from most of them. While there are exceptions to the rule; the majority of these groups tend to concentrate on one or more aspects of crisis management to the detriment of the rest.

In developing our model, we examined the various types of groups and identified what we believe to be the pros & cons associated with each.

Case Study: Survivalists

Pros

They are experts when it comes to group security and “off the grid” survival. Learning the skills needed to live in the most primitive conditions to assure their survival in a worst-case situation. They are private and secure, keeping individual preps hidden from those "outside" the group.

Cons

Survivalists tend to be secluded and overly secretive. Even groups that work together often are small and segregated from the community. While the skills and security are a big bonus – their lack of support is a huge drawback. In any emergency, it is important to have depth in a variety of skill sets. Limited membership would hinder this significantly.

Case Study: “Preppers”

Pros

Having a good supply of food, water, and other essentials is a must in these uncertain times. Support groups are all around and they offer a wealth of knowledge. Preppers are the best when it comes to creativity and stocking up on provisions for the family.

Cons

In times of emergency, they too, like survivalists, may find themselves well-prepared, but still alone. Additionally, preppers on average tend not to put too much emphasis on defense. While owning a firearm may be a good start, it doesn’t help much if the odds are stacked up against you in civil unrest for instance.

Case Study: Militia

Pros

Militias are by far the best prepared group for any scenario where there is a threat of violence. Militia are well-stocked when it comes to firepower and tactical equipment & supplies. They also tend to train in vital skills such as first-aid, field craft, communications and the like.

Cons

While they are active in training and acquiring vital equipment, too often they do this to the detriment of other areas, such as: food preparation, alternative energy, and off the grid survival skills. An ill-prepared militia in the midst of a crisis may find themselves lacking the provision to carry them very long – which may turn some groups into an armed band looking for supplies.

The Frontiersmen Model

Frontiersmen Training

The Frontiersmen are a mixture of all these different groups into an entirely new model. We encompass what we believe to be the PROS of each of the above groups while leaving behind stuff we feel may not be beneficial.

By merging the beneficial aspects of each category into one, we have developed an approach with a 360 degree field of view. We learn primitive survival so that we are not dependant upon the system; prepare our families for a variety of emergencies; and then train to defend ourselves in any worst case scenario.

Primitive Survival

We incorporate the survivalist mindset of security and "living off the land". Our units train in trapping, tracking, farming, building portable sanitation systems, portable energy generators, and more. We do this while maintaining a structure that facilitates a large membership base. This allows us to eliminate the one aspect of survivalism that may be it's Achilles’ Heel - the Lone Wolf mentality.

Prepping

Our organization fully embraces the "prepper" mindset of storing supplies for a worst case scenario. We encourage members to have sufficient food, water, equipment, shelter, and other vital provisions not only for themselves, but for those who may come to them later in need. As Frontiersmen, we must expect those around us to look to us for guidance in the midst of a crisis and we should be prepared to offer that help. For this reason - all Frontiersmen families should be acquiring more provisions then their family would need.

Tactical Defense

Finally, none of this would be any good if you couldn't protect it. So the Frontiersmen train our units to defend themselves. In a situation where civil unrest spawns looting - those who have been prepping will be attractive targets. To help assure the families will be safe, we all train not only individuals to defend themselves, but also to work together so that all of us may be able to guard against aggression as one cohesive force.

With our unique approach that incorporates survival, prepping, and tactical defense, you can rest assured our members are quite prepared to meet any challenge that we may face.
